The Friends of the Arts Centre

What does the Arts Centre do for Crediton?

It plays a major part in the cultural and arts scene, making Crediton one of the liveliest market towns in Devon.

More than 200 people of all ages pass through the doors of the Centre each week for a variety of classes and activities, including visual arts, drama and dance. We also put on events throughout the year that appeal to a wide range of people, such as plays, concerts, films and talks.

In the town, we stage major community events such as Shakespeare in the Square, the Food & Drink Festival, Busk It and Christmas in Crediton. We also play a leading role in the biannannual Crediton Festival, a celebration of local talent.

What do the Friends do for the Arts Centre?

The Friends of the Arts Centre support its programme through taking part in activities, attending performances, giving time as volunteers and through a modest subscription. Current membership is around 160. An elected committee of The Friends meets about 10 times a year with various sub-groups taking responsibility for different areas of our activities. Annual subscriptions at present are £18 for an individual and £30 for family membership, though many Friends choose to give more than these basic sums.

As a Friend you will receive:

  • Early notice of the latest events through our brochures and email updates

  • Regular newsletters

  • Invitations to special Friends’ events and outings

  • Requests – if you wish –  to volunteer and help the Arts Centre
