Busk It
On a Saturday morning every summer we fill the town with musicians, putting them in shops, cafes and on the pavements. Folk, jazz, classical, choirs and experimental, it's all there. This is an unmissable free event, a wonderful celebration of Crediton's musical community.
This year we added a new venture, A solstice Busk It!, a mid-winter celebration of music and spoken word in the Arts centre in December.
Share in the Square
The Arts Centre joind forces with the Town Team and Town Council to provide entertainment in our wonderful Town Square during the summer months. Music, Theatre, Poetry, Comedy and special events help to show our town at its best and provide welcome respiute from the hectic world around us.
Christmas in Crediton
The Arts Centre joins forces with the Town Council each year to organise festivities to mark the switching on of the Christmas Lights in late November. There is a wide range of entertainment including local choirs, morris dancing, music, a traders race and afantastic headline band, leading up to the procession and coutdown to the Christmas Lights switch on and fireworks.
Crediton Flag Project
The Arts Centre started the Flag Project in 2013 , when the town was decorated with 40 colourful flags to mark the six week Crediton Festival. Each flag was individually designed and made by a local business or community group at a series of artist-led workshops. The flags proved so popular with locals and visitors, that we decided to flag up the town again in 2014, making a further 15 flags to increase the impact. In 2015 Crediton Town Team took over managing the project, which has now become an annual event, and the Arts Centre still supports the project by providing storage and free workshop and making space. A book telling the story of the Flag Project, including photos of all the flags, can be viewed or bought here.
